Has anyone any ideas how to attach these new sliders for the sunroof onto the cables?
The genuine part is plastic and comes with cable attached (8424 61), but it costs £60 and isn't avail til the end of september
So I ordered these on ebay which are metal and only cost £10, but I have to attach them to the exisitng cable. I've stripped the outer wire so the inner core slides snugly into the long hole on the new slider.
The question is should I glue it with chemical metal or crimp sthg on the end? or maybe both!?

Oh well, for anyone who's interested, this is what I did in the end....
First of all, you DO need to remove the headlining to get to all the sunroof mechanisms and screws.
You don't need to remove any screws from the top nor should you disturb the waterproofing seals on the outside of the sunroof plastic runners and trim.
I used a plumbers torch to solder the new pieces (that I bought on ebay) onto the cable - DO NOT DO THIS!!
the alloy is much too soft and started to melt... (not too much luckily!)
(although my soldering skills are pretty basic)
So I ended up using chemical metal - JB Weld - an epoxy glue.
I glued in front and behind the slider piece but in retrospect I could have just slid it into postion right up against the outer cable and just glued behind the new slider piece.
I had to grind away the surplus glue with my Dremel to get the slider to run freely in the track. It's a pretty close fit.
I put new pads on the glass sunroof window where it runs in the track - this will stop any rattles - but it does make sliding the sunroof glass quite stiff.
For anyone who doesn't speak french the instructions in sunroof repair kit (841099) mean to use the brown pads in the front and the grey ones at the back, then put the other grey pads over the top of them all (this will make sense when you've got the glass off)
There seems to be a stop on the motor for the back of the run (ie fully open) so when you reconnect the glass to the runners and the motorised sliding pieces in the track, set the motor to fully open and fully open the sunroof manually, engage it all together and then reconnect the motor. ( you need to have removed the motor to get the cables out and for them to slide freely while aligning the sunroof for reassembly)

Hi snailer, this piece is a good replacemento for the Peugeot part 8424 61?? I mean the sunroof work good and the slider fit properly.

Yes! it's been a month and everything is working fine. So far so good.
It was quite a lot of work to get these pieces to fit as the genuine parts come
with the cable attached I think, so they would fit in more quickly and easily
but if you have the time and resources (JB weld or other chemical metal glue, a mini grinder or file,
also pliers and wire cutters to strip the outer cable) you can save a bit of money.
You need to let the glue dry for 24hours before fitting them back.
I don't know if the peugeot replacements are plastic or metal, but these metal ones fit well in the runners and the cable (once stripped) also fitted well - although I did run through the hole with a dril just to tidy it up.
I also got the kit to replace the glass panel slider pads 8410.99 which made it quite stiff and the repair still holds - and the sunroof doesn't rattle anymore as I was missing one!
I'm interested to know, if anyone decides to get the genuine 8424 61 part
if the sliders are metal or plastic. Please let us know.
