Hey guys and gals,

I am new here, all the way from Sunny South Africa, my fiancé owns a 2004 206 1.4 xs, and we have stumbled apon a problem that is more irratating than a peak hour traffic jam, I have searched the forum inside and out and see that beeping is either a ecu fault, a battery fault or a fuse/relay issue, oh and an open door issue lol, but I have pretty much checked all that, besides the ecu check, ill give you abit of an update on the car:
It was bought 2nd hand, about 5 years ago.

Faults on the car are at a minimum and it was/is in a good condition, only problem was a broken back axle, which seems to be the norm with these cars from what I can see on the forum, but ok long story short, peugeot parts in SA are rare and damn expensive. So we opted to buy a 2nd hand axle from a scrap 206, but only after buying and installing it, we saw that the rear drum sensors did not fit, the machie then cut the sensors off, and ever since then, the car has like no ABS, the dash lights all come on, incl the stop light, hand brake light, airbag light, all of them stay on and flash constently, which nobody knows how to switch off or re program! (Any help on this would also be much appreciated)

But the most annoying thing is this beeping damn it gripes my balls because it beeps every 2-3 seconds while driving, at a robot, breaking ect basically its constently on! And I wanna know what the hell it could be, is there a fuse I can just rip out or is it a brake wear thing or what could it be??? Please guys any help would be very much appreciated

Charlie

Unless your going to fix the ABS system find someone with Peugeot Planet diagnostic software & disable the ABS in the BSI configuration set up, the car should then think it hasnt got ABS fitted & should stop flagging up warning lights & beeping at you.

I've no idea what the legalities of disabling the ABS is in your part of the world so you may want to check with your insurance company etc first.

Hey thanks for the reply buddy, so do you think the beeping is a result from the sensors on the rear hubs being cut off ? Would I be able to just join them again on the wires without having them sit on the hubs ? Reason I ask this is, I have the sensors with me, but apparently we can't just take the new hubs off and put the old 1s back on,would those sensors make baking un even ? I tested it from about 30mph and slammed on the brakes and they locked up. Not even my uno turbo with no abs does that! So something is not right as far as i can tell.

You say I can change it in the bsi settings ? How does 1 plug into that ? The auto electritians here charge like £45 p/h so is there ny way I can acess it my self ? And where can I get this peugeot planet ?

Thanks again for the reply

Peugeot Planet is the diagnostic software / lead that can change settings in the BSI unit ( the cars body computer / brain )

The beeping is trying to tell you there is a fault, if you had the larger multifunction screen im sure it would scroll ABS FAULT & BRAKE FAULT on the display aswell.

It would be a better idea to just get the ABS system working again which means refit the sensors & the pick ups behind the hubs.

Without the ABS system the brakes can just lock up easily as the car was designed to have a functioning ABS braking system.

Your Fiat Uno was designed without ABS so the specifications of the braking system & how it performs will be different & thats why its a lot harder to lock the brakes on it.

Thanks for the info mate, much appreciated, would I be able to fit those sensors to the hubs even if they are not the same as this models axle ? I think it comes from a smaller older model, because there is no pick ups in the hubs which is why they were cut off, without our knowledge, do they fit into the hubs itself or where do they go exactly ?
