does anyone know, are the hinges removable from the tailgate and the body so you can replace them?

Yes 4 nuts each. Drop head lining to get at hinge to body nuts.

I dont think the hinges come away from the actual tailgate though, I think they are welded on.

Bolted to the tail gate aswell
