Your poll says "Fix" or "Repair"... so you may not be getting the results you want 
I've not checked for a while but isn't a 57k Gti still fairly low mileage?
Even if you paid £300 for it and then £300 to get it working again, couldn't you sell for at least £1200 making a tidy £600 profit? Or are Gti's cheap as chips these days?
