Only just started since i picked the car up friday but when the engine turns i get a very strong smell of petrol in the cabin which does not disperse, it stays constant, any ideas?

could it be something to do with the fuel pump in the back?

and yes get a new car!

I would have a sniff of you heater vents, if it's coming from there it might be coming from the engine bay but if it's not it's most likely as said above the fuel pump pipe connections.

Ooh, just thought it could also be the rubber bend that the goes between the filler down pipe and the tank, is the any sign of fuel on the floor in front of your rear off side tyre?

I guess it could be since it wasn't kicking in due to the ecu playing up

If the pumps pipes have been disconnected there's a chance the pipes weren't reconnected properly or the connection seals might of been damaged?
