Hi
I have recently purchased a 2005 Peugeot 206 1.4 HDI so I am unfamilier with how it should sound!
There seems to be a lot of road noise when driving along and gets louder the faster I go, is this normal for the 206?

Its still there when I take it out of gear.

I have just had a Full service and MOT and the mechanic said the bearings are fine when he listen to them with a Tethascope.

Apart from the noise its a great little car.

Any advise please?

Could be crap tyres or you are used to something with better quality.

As said tyres make a big difference. They're not the quietest cars to be in anyway though. I would have thought the tyres are the main factor to be honest if everything's mechanically sound.

What He Said

As I get older the road noise of my 206 starts to annoy me more, just reminds me next time to get something better built with more sound proofing.

I have now fitted Alloys and the road noise has been greatly reduced.

Thank god for that as I thought maybe the rear axle bearings were on there way out! Smile
