Hi all,

I just wanted a little advice, I went to look at a W reg 206 LX, 5 door auto the other night.

It only has 38500 miles on it, and seems fairly tidy. I liked the way it felt to drive, and it's very 'me' as a car!! Cool

The guy is asking £1450ono, but has said that on the last MOT there was an advisory on the front joint (I have no idea what this is?!?! Shocked )

It is also blowing a little from the exhust - seems to only be minor, and the rev counter is not working. Confused

Could anyone let me know what they think?! I am very inexperienced with this kind of thing, I got a G reg Micra as a 17th B'day present in 2000, and bought a P reg Corsa almost 4 years ago in sheer desperation when the Micra passed away! I am almost 30, and have only ever owned/driven 2 cars in my life!!!

Any advice would be so appreciated!

FYI - this is the top end of my budget right now, and I am reluctant to throw money at the Corsa to scrape it through another MOT in about 3 weeks time if I don't have to!!!

I found the AL4 auto box to be rather good in 2 years of ownership. But I am nonetheless aware of its reputation for being a bit pants!

there's hundreds of better cars out there than that...for that money i wouldnt put up with faulty rev counter , exhaust is blowing and a front joint is shot, that could get expensive and being so vague saying front joint....i'd stay well clear.....have a good look on the web, ebay etc.its fun bidding and if its not as explained you dont bother-they have to be very honest on there..and you can focus your search on exact requirements be it car type, engine size,price,location,etc.etc.....i would say you could pick up a nice vw polo(which would suit you fine)with everything as it should be/nice condition/2000 to 2003reg year, for the same money as the auto 206w reg.

the polo would suit you well as you say you are inexperienced with cars-ive had a couple and as far as cars go,these are among the most straight forward-with no complex internal computer,no common faults and pretty cheap to maintain this small vw would be a good choice..........parts are slightly over average to buy but dont go wrong often.
