I have just picked up another Pug and I have noticed that this car has also thrown a code P0135. Seems like all my cars are doing this lately! This made sense, because, under the bonnet, the front and rear lambdas have a unique connection.

Someone has connected the two lambdas together. Wire 1 (one of the heater wires) on the rear lambda is connected to Wire 1 (again, one of the heater wires) on the front lambda! WTF is that about?

Obviously, there is not going to be any sort of connection going to that wire, so why would someone do this?

Or is there a dark art I am missing?

Actually, I haven't checked what is under the heatshrunk rubber yet, but with no connection going to them apart from to each other, I can't see there being any??

Ideas anyone? Why would someone do that?

SR

Are they just joined to hold them up from the road beneath without cutting them off, incase they are needed later?if they are redundant right now this sounds possible.

No that's the crazy thing about it, all the other wires are connected as they should be, signal, signal ground, and heater ground all connected normally!

I am confused.com, what on earth did the idiot who owned the car think he was achieving?

Maybe your car should have the single lamda exhaust system but previous owner had a spare twin lambda exhaust hanging about so hes tried to use it and use both sensors still by joining them into one, still getting one reading from the lambdas?

what year/month if known and model is your car?multi plex or non plexed?
