Hi,

I am having a nightmare with my girlfriends 206 look, i know this has probably been covered a million times, but nothing has worked so far. The speedo and mileage have stopped working. i have changed crank sensor on top of gearbox, checked fuses and even tried a second hand instrument cluster but still no joy, the interior light has now started flashing when you open the door too, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as i am honestly running out of ideas!!

Surely you mean changed odometer sensor, not crank sensor right?
There's a reversing switch on the gearbox too which has nothing to do with your problem.

Check the fuse for the odometer sensor, I forget which it is.

Check again, specificaly the odometer sensor fuse NOT the speedo sensor (crankshaft pos sensor) which is different.

OK.

Might be a cluster issue then.

Newbie error. Is the car pre plexed or multi plexed. In other words was it built before or after October 2001

Does the car have ABS?

It's multiplexed then.
Try BSI reset procedure.

I should put this in my sig at some point.

Does seem like a can bus fault then, a communication issue between the speedo and the BSI. Reboot it like the previous post says. Someone with Peugeot's diagnostic equipment will be able to read fault codes stored in the cluster unit itself and the BSI. They will also be able to test the cluster.

yes, defo needs bsi soft reboot-i had this problem a few weeks back, have you had the battery leads off lately because you need to perform this reboot after you take leads off aswell.it worked great for me...no problems since....

you can find the instructions for this reboot on "dillon" or enter soft reboot into the search panel or i think its under 206 introduction topic....quite far down the topics list...almost certain this is the fault but...if you have changed some stuff already its best you go back over them to be sure once the reboots done.....it can take 2 or 3 tries but will be cure i bet.....you can always do it again if you need t6o for any reason like your battery is off again just follow the procedure again.

ECU, BSI + key kit from ebay?

Could still be a wiring issue though.
