I thought my 2004 206 was just a slow dog from the factory until I drove another identical one which pulled much better and felt like it had another 10-15 horsepower!
My car has 112,000 miles, not horrendous. It starts absolutely perfectly every time, never smokes or misses a beat. Its just slooow. Especially trying to pull away on a slope. Any ideas?
I was wondering if a previous owner could have got the cam timing out or something, other than that I'm at a loss. Keep meaning to hook up a boost gauge to see if its boosting to the correct amount.
Anyone else had a 1.4 HDI like that?

If your MAF sensor isn't working then it will affect turbo boost and make it flat.
The ECU gives a default generic power if the MAF isn't working or disconnected which will mean the car is sluggish.
You can try your mate's MAF on yours as they are very easy to disconnect and fit then if you notice an improvement this will be the problem.
The MAF is located between the turbo and air intake and very easy to get to.
I do actually have a spare, used but perfectly functioning, one as my car is the same as yours - 1.4 HDI.
A couple of years ago I had a problem where the engine would miss slightly every few miles and I bought a new MAF but it turned out to be the crank sensor that was at fault.

Thanks for the replies. I don't have the other car anymore, I probably should've kept the other one but it was more sellable because it wasnt beat to hell like my red one Is it common for the ECU to not show a fault if the MAF is malfunctioning? The lamp has never come on and Peugeot Planet has never said anything was wrong with it. I've had the car 2 years and it has always run the same.

Some engines are quick some are slow
Its just what you get tbh. Example piston 2 on my 1.4 TU engine is completely different to the other 3, and was always a bit sluggish, its just pot luck

Try unplugging your MAF then then taking the car for a drive.
If the power is the same as it has been for the past 2 years then something is wrong with it.
The MAF is required for turbo boost so when it doesn't work the boost is affected.
If you notice a drop in power when it is disconnected then the MAF is working OK when connected.
Doing this will log a fault with the ECU and come up on a diagnostic but won't cause the management light to come on as I have tried it on mine before to test it.
