Hi,i just want to know as soon as poss. if anyone has ever put a slightly different size tyre on there car and have they had any problems???im thinking that ive had my space saver on and its been fine so what do you guys think???prompt input appreciated thankyou.....
The tyres i use now are 205/45/r16 and im considering 205/50/16 on 1 or 2 wheels,possibly even 205/55/16 maybe??? i believe the difference will be in the profile of the tyres resulting in the tyres being either 5mm or 10mm higher profile therefore being 10mm or 20mm out/bigger than the exsisting tyres....
what do you'se reckon,has anyone ran like this themselves?

You need to have both sides of that axle matching, you cant run 45 one side and 55 on the other.

I see....do u think the higher profile would go on the originals alloys ok?and two50s or 55s if matching would be ok as long as there on the same axle...namely both on the front with the smaller originals on the back???its just im after cheap part worns and cant find the exact originals...best price for a budget but not worn so new budget is around60quid and im used to payin 25 to 35 max.low profiles more expensive for less rubber?

would be fine, what wheels you using? from that size im geussing nimrods?
As long as whats on both sides of the rear axle match each other and whats on both sides of the front match your okay.
And in my oppinion part worns are just a false economy. I went for slightly narrower tyres on my Gti and got 195/45/16 Toyo Proxes T1R's for £48 each

Whats the point in part worns, yeh your paying less but your also getting less tread so they will need replacing sooner meaning in the long run you will probs end up spending more money???

I wouldn't touch a part worn. You never know what history the tyre has.
Better to spend extra and have tyres you can trust.

I bought a set of 16" Nimrods with 205/55/R16 tyres already fitted (nearly worn out). I know they should be 45 profile but being eager to see what they looked like on the car I put a pair on the back, but when I drove the car up the road I found that the o/s tyre rubbed on the plastic inner arch guard at the front of the rear arch, the one that protects the fuel tank fill pipe. So I promptly removed them and I am currently waiting to get some 45 profile tyres fitted which should clear no probs.

I'd still to same all-round ... the police will find anything now to stop you ... plus if you aren't using standard tyres (as per manufacturers spec) you may invalidate your insurance ... they just love something to avoid paying out!
There's been a problem until recently with winter-tyres and insurance.
And technically you are breaking the law every time you use a space saver as the axle wheels/tyres don't match!
