Hi everyone. I've got a 1999 1.1 that's got problems with locking but only when rainy. It will work fine as long as it hasn't been sitting in the rain or been washed recently. Since its a 1.1 and got 5 doors (before I go ripping all apart) is there a chance that maybe water is either playing with the sensor? I've done a search and found that most replies were solenoids but since mine only does so in rainy weather, can anyone point me what to search for and what can I do to solve this? Thanks for your time.

I Believe that you have to check for water going inside,and reach the fuse box under the steering,or you have a door with a naked wire that make a short contact with water.

So the short is either happening in the fuse box or the door itself? That helps some. I will have a look at it.

My bet is that your window seal is not very good, thus water getting down it and going onto the door mech inside the door.

Any way of curing such a thing? I suppose it will mean getting another window seal? I'd rather get some info from you folks here than ripping everything apart and not having a clue of what to do next. I'm a bit on the rush right now with all the work etc but I'll take a look at whats what next week end during which I will get time to open the thing up. Thanks for your input.
one more thing, I saw a how to on how to take off the back trim but on a 3 door version. Any ideas how to take it off on a 5 door? I have manual windows with a handle at the back, so not straight forward as the front electric ones.

Well in my situation I just changed the mech and put copper grease round the plastic moulding join to prevent future problems

The easiest thing to do is just pop the door card off wash your car then you can see and feel if its getting wet around the door mech (inside the door).

One important thing I forgot to mention, it only happens on the passengers side rear door. The others work fine. Slamming the door hard to shut it sometimes make it work (only when raining, fine during good weather). I managed to take the doorcards, handle etc off and here is a picture. I guess that is the culprit part? It seems pretty hard to come off, hence why I came here on what to attempt next.
I will give it a wash today, hopefully I will get some more clues.
So here is a picture I took with my phone after the usual wash. Seems damp around that thingy here, you can notice a droplet of water down. I wonder if its it really since the plastic seems quite open to humidity.
I just hope I, with your help, manage to get it back to work as normal cause its a PITA to lock manually in heavy rainfall! Thanks!

Did you not take it out dry it off and try to re seal it? Just get a 2nd hand one only should cost £10/15 from a scrappy

I did so, I even sealed it today with some grease to repell water. I just want to make sure before I go buy another one, you never know with those french electronics! I will keep an eye on it and just hope its really it. Thanks!
