Hello there,

I'm having an issue with my 2006 1.4 8v. When the car is cold (first start of the day, left for days under sheets of ice.) the car starts straight away no problem.

However when you have taken it out for a run, and then return to it minutes later, the car starts, revs then dies. I have to give it some revs and then it runs fine.

It's as if, the car knows when it's cold to give it more revs, but when it's warm, doesn't quite give it enough to start.

Any suggestions, cheers.

I would have thought that would be a fuel or air issue. When the car is cold it will be on a different set of rules than when it is warm in terms of fuel air mix. I am unsure what you will need to check but I would imagine it will be a sensor or something similar.

Some of the more knowledgeable guys on here will no doubt know more.

A duff battery can also cause this. Try another one.

Duff battery, ok didn't think of that. I'll have to try a new one.

Starts so fast when cold though.

It can happen, if the alternator is struggling to charge the battery it can suck power from the engine. Happened to me before. Move the holding pin up a notch on the throttle cable for now it will increase the idle and stop it cutting out.

Sounds like coolant temp sensor playing about or idle control valve

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll clean the ICV first as its cheaper than a new battery, think there's a guide on here somewhere.
I have Peugeot Planet/DiagBox.

Previous Car: Peugeot 206 1.4
Now: Peugeot 207 1.6 VTi 120 Sport
