Hey guys,
So as some of you know i sold my old 206 to my mates girlfriend and it seems to have been going through one of those funny periods (dead cat, dead headunit, dead sub, etc.) and i went over to visit them a few days ago and its chucking out white smoke, quite a bit actually.
Were not talking normal condensation were talking a solid flow of white smoke which increases when you rev, it also has that petrol smell. Other than that the car is running smoothly, accelerates as well as i remember it doing. The only other things which I've noticed is the exhaust sounds a bit louder/tinier/raspier than before it had a new CAT (the one which was on the car when i sold it had a hole and it was quieter than what it is now) and the fuel consumption is down a tiny bit.
I don't think it's the head gasket as it was only done 10k (15 months) ago and the car isn't losing oil or coolant, and no mayo. The coolant is murky but that's the radiator as it kept going instantly murky no matter how many times i flushed it. But saying this when the head gasket went before it drove fine (with no symptoms) up until the day it went completely and turned all the coolant instantly gungy.
I'm hoping to get planet on it this or next friday but if anyone has any hints for me to check that would be great thanks.

Hmmm, as you can see I'm having some of the symptoms you're experiencing on my own thread...
I have also asked the forum for advice, however, with my little tiny bit of knowledge acquired from my father (served his electrical engineering apprenticeship 30 years ago at Ryton Plant, and working this career on machinery and cars since) and a bit of experience on car myself, I may have some suggestions.
If the car isn't overheating or loosing coolant your best bet is to check the inlet manifold assembly and gaskets for any cracks which could cause a sloppy idle or misfiring problems. Apparently white smoke can also be present if there is an issue.
Job can easily be done yourself by removing air filter box and pipe, the MAP sensor normally the 'Bosch' one on the top left hand side of the assembly with the plug sticking out at 45 degrees (giving it a clean after taking out) and removing the other pipes and plugs, labelling if needed for re assembly. The assembly is removed via 4 fixings. Two underneath the manifold pipes and two either side which are easily visible.
Check the assembly for cracks or build up of crap, and of course the gaskets. Replace the gaskets if needed and clean the assembly with degreaser making sure to dry thoroughly before re-fitting.

I take it, it was a cheap cat? And does it have an aged silencer in the exhaust by any chance?

I'm not sure how much she paid for the new CAT (she had a lot of unnecessary work done at the same time), but other than the manifold the exhaust is all under 3 years old so the backbox and middle section should be fine i would have thought.
I'll also check the intake Lloyd.
