Hey everyone.
I've had a search but no complete joy. 02 plate 1.4 Look.
So, got into the car today and 'Eco Mode' was reading across the dash before i turned the keys (am certain no lights or such were left on overnight). I've had eco mode come on before, but only when been sat there and listening to the radio etc (like it should).
The car started fine, with Eco Mode immediately disappearing and the car running fine as normal. 10 minutes later though and the Engine Management light starts flashing and beeping (did this every 3 seconds). Straight away the car seemed down on power, had to rev it alot to pull out of a junction.
Managed to get home and open the bonnet (with car still running and EML beeping&flashing) and it was shaking like mad, much more than I've ever scene.
Quick mention, had the car into garage earlier in the week to check the Aux belt (was squeaking alot from cold) and they said it was all fine, no work needed to any aux belt/tensioners/pulleys. Since first noticing the squeaking has almost completely gone when starting car from cold (maybe cold whether causing it more?)
Anyway, back to today. Went back out in the car couple hours later, no Eco Mode or EML anymore and all was back to normal, asif nothing ever happened.
Major misfire causing the shaking and EML??? Am gunna get it plugged in and read at the garage ASAP, but could the Eco Mode and EML flashing/beeping be linked in anyway or just coincidence?
Thanks in advance for any advise or help given!

Only way you'll find the cause of the EML is to either change everything until it goes, or the easier and cheaper method which is to get the codes read.

Check your battery connections and the earth strap on the gearbox.

Thank you for the replies guys.
As i mentioned, drove the car couple hours later and all was back to normal, car was running fine and EML was off.
I've just had a quick check of the battery connections and gearbox earth strap and they seem ok, no signs of torn threads or corrosion.
Guna get it into the garage ASAP and get those codes read! Will post an update in due course!!

Just an update, as its rather annoying when the OP doesnt unfold what the solution was to the original problem.
Codes were read at the garage, coming up with Random Misfire. So new spark plugs and coil pack fitted and the code didnt appear again. Thankfully (touch wood) the EML has not appear again either.
Regarding Eco Mode, I'm none the wiser! lol its not happened since, i guess I'll deal with it if at the time if it does happen again.
