Iv got a 206 xsi 1.6 2002 now is it 16v or 8v
Plus when I 1st start it up and drive it it seems not very responsive as soon as its warm its fine plus gear box seems a little sloppy as in gear change
Any advice to perk it up abit and performance I'm no millionaire so just cheap mods

I would follow Timon's guide on cleaning the throttle body, ICV, etc, made a world of difference to my car on starting and when cold.

As for the sloppy gear change it depends what you're comparing it to. As opposed to my old 106, Laguna, Merc Sprinter, yeah it feels sloppy but nowhere near as bad as the Mk3/4/5 Escorts. They felt like the gear stick was falling off.

If you want a bit of poke for little money check out a remap on your ECU. You'll save fuel too. Not sure what the power increase will be but it'll respond better on the throttle

I ain't nuts, I'm condiments, I've been promoted

MEGA CHEAP SPEED INCREASE...
1-inflate your tyres perfectly..
2-get rid of all unneccessary weight from cars boot etc.
3-use performance fuel from garages not supermarkets.
4-service the car and fit best oil u can afford and add a good air filter,a good set of BOSCH spark plugs.

5-clean your icv with carb cleaner.
6-treat a tank of fuel to a power boost fluid...greenvilles ive heard good things about.
7-SUSPECTED-give your car a good valet every few weeks(and a wash clean ever week)because il be damned but im sure my cars always go better after i give them a good clean SUSPECTED.

8-fit bigger/smaller wheels, depending where you want the speed increase...top end+fit bigger outer circumference wheels...bottom end(acceleration)+fit smaller outside circumference wheels.
NOTE:If you do have money to spend the best increases are with a remap as mentioned above...starting around£250 i believe.

It's been covered a few times recently and I think the general consensus is it's 16v. If in doubt either post a picture up of your engine or PM me your VIN and I'll send you a list of vehicle characteristics ie how it left the factory.
