Any help and advice would be much appreciated...
After being told by the RAC that the head gasket had blown on my 206sw rather than paying £500 my husband offered to do it for me. So yesterday at the crack of dawn he was up and stripping it down.
All went really well. The head gasket was changed, the thermostat was changed. The 'train' came when as the cam belt was off a new one had been purchased and so had a new water pump, which is held on with two bolts.
The bottom bolt came straight off. Then the top one... Snap!
We have spent hours trying to drill the bolt out. Alas we have now conceded it isn't going to happen. And realising a new housing could possibly be purchased we have opted for this.
Looking in the Haynes manual their isn't anything written up about this. Has anybody done this before, info can you help me please?
Any help and advice would be incredibly gratefully received.

No we didn't bother, it was a chance we know, but as we were trying to get it back on the road with out a delay we decided not too. The irony

Surely your just postponing the inevitable though? Also you should use new head bolts, and the head should be checked for damage from the gasket failing.

If you visit a good tool supplier they should have various tools to take your bolt out...but you should definately listen to the guys above here..theyve probably done these heads multiple times and tjey know whats what...however if you wish to try your luck and do it on the cheap you need an easi out tool or similar..
As for your oymp housing drop into a good parts supplier and have a word in his shell like...he may turn you down flat tho..as you are doing it on the cheap and that is not a favourable thing to do to an engine..

Thanks for the help. I understand what your saying about getting the head skimmed etc. I normally would, i hate not doing a job properly, but the post/question was about the Water pump housing! The head is back on the car! With new stretch bolts and new gaskets.. Due to efforts at removal is shot.. So has anybody removed the housing before?
