Right. don't laugh. just purchased a 206 1.4 LX... few issues with the car, just about managed to pass an MOT.
The car was purchased with some stupid 17" rims with completely the wrong offset, so the old owner decided to fit 20mm wheel spacers just so the wheels didnt catch the insides (causing the rims to petrude from the arches(3 points each corner))
the bodywork wasnt in the best state either, so here goes:
I started off by removing the terrible chrome stuff from the front grill, then sprayed it all gloss black, removed the badge and sprayed it black and purple
I did then fit a dvd stereo with a flip out screen, the same night, someone broke into the car and nicked it along with a bit of loose change and a bag of teabags i left in there.. leaving a massive hole by the lock
So i thought to myself, if there's no locks, how can a thief break in without alerting everyone in the area?
so i began removing and smoothing off the locks
Then, as crazy as i am.. i thought... befect opportunity to spray the whole car... you may all laugh.. i am using rattle cans!!
I'm half expecting a few negative comments here! lol but hey.. so far i haven't had a single run whilst painting, and once the car is completely painted, the bonnet and roof are being carbon wrapped (black)
... So, since i had my DVD player robbed, i put in the cheap aftermarket head unit back in which came with the car, i've ripped out the pooey standard speakers and tweeters, replaced the 20w speakers with 250w Hyfonics Zues, and modified the wing mirror backs to fit my 2" Fusion 150w tweeters
And thats it so far, hopefully if its is sunny tomorrow i'll be outside spraying the tailgate and rear bumper..

Looks like you made a good job of the smoothing and painting so far mate, quite interested to see how this turns out!
What sort of bodywork skills do you have? I want to smooth my door locks but don't wanna try if I'm gonna get stuck half way through haha. I've never worked on bodywork at all.

Its easy to smooth off the locks, just take off your door card, pul the metal clip out that holds the lock in place, it then drops out.. i used mesh and liquid metal to start with to avoid having to weld a plate, then use a bit of fibreglass, it wooves itself through the mesh for grip, then i used Mettalic (metal based filler) to do the smoothing process, the just keep applying and sanding until its all level, make sure to use a sanding block as you want it all to be even.
Then just work up your grades of sandpaper wet n dry to smooth off the finish, then primer it all ready for paint.
Thanks for the comments guys.. i had a fiesta mk5 zetec s which i spent around 14k modifying so i just gained self experience from reading info off google, youtube and trying it myself... so about 5 years self tought knowledge of bodywork

How many rattle cans have you used up to now? Looks like a decent enough finish though. Did you consider getting the whole car wrapped as an alternative?

Are those the wheels it came with? Be a bit harsh if you got 3 points per corner as it doesn't look like the tread is visible from directly above.

I've used 15 cans of white gloss so far.. and they're a pound per can.. so not too expensive. I'm doing it all as cheap as i can but getting the best finish possible.
And the wheels stick out nearly 10mm on the front from the top of the arch. And the wheelss are completely wrong for the car.. the offset is so far wrong, the old owner has fitted 20mm spacers just so the wheels clear on the inside, they still catch on full lock and there's loads of play in the steering because of them. I've got a set of 15" pro race 1.2's to go on off my fiesta.. just waiting for standard size bolts to arrive and ii need my alloys powdercoating. At least then the car should feel better to drive.. and i can lower the car then (as i cant on the 17's) thing is, the car looks like its on stilts its that high off the ground

i also painted the shell behind the bumper black and white
then the bumper after being flatted down and a few marks removed...
then on to the tailgate
and the boot handle fitted (will get a badgeless one in due course)
then i smoothed the rear badge, and added a little stencil (for temporary use til the badgeless handle is fitted)
still waiting for my petrol cap to arrive.. hopefully will come tomorrow so i can finish the o/s rear quarter

Done a tiny bit of work on the car today, but ran out of paint.. bringing the day to an end.. off to the shop tomorrow to purchase more
heres how it stands now:
I decided, as the roof is going to be carbon wrapped.. to do this piece gloss black, awaiting spoiler
Took out the rear light and done a proper job
how it looks now
