Hi,
Peugeot 206 1.9D 2001.

My battery seemed to be flat, called out the RAC and they took my 206 to a garage in Stockport. The RAC man said the alternator was faulty.

The Garage also diagnosed an alternator fault because my battery light was off and the battery seemed to be flat. They fitted a new alternator and wanted £235 but it didn't cure the problem.

So they put the old alternator back, told me that the bsi unit was probably faulty and handed the car back and charged me £80. I drove it back to my Stockport Hotel

I rebooted the BSI using a BSI rebooting guide I found on Google.

I now find the battery is being charged and the voltage measured at the battery goes up to 13.8V around 3000rpm. At tickover it drops back to just over 12V. The alternator is charging the battery.

I still don't have a battery light even after rebooting the BSI.

Anybody got any ideas or seen this before.

Thanks

Do you mean when you first put the ignition on no battery light comes on? Or when you're driving about, because it's not meant to be on when driving unless there is a alternator/fault.
I have Peugeot Planet/DiagBox.

You should be getting between 13.2 and 14.4 volts across the battery terminals at idle.

What's your battery showing at rest?
Voltage ............Approximate charge
12.6 V ............100%
12.35 V............ 75%
12.10 V ............50%
11.95 V ............25%
11.7 V............ 0%

The battery light don't come on with the ignition on and the engine not started. It stays off all the time.

The battery is charging and I can see the voltage across it rising with increasing rpm. I see 14vts at 2000rppm no problem.

The bulb has been checked by a garage and they say it is ok.
