hi guys i have a lil 1.4 GLX and it started to screech when revd hard if it slowly rev it fine till about 4,000 rmp i thought it might have been sucking in air from somewhere but cant find a vacuum leak but it sound like metal on spinning metal does anybody have any idea what could be the cause

Could be your auxiliary belt slipping (fan belt).
Either needs tightening up or replacing.

no that was the first thing i checked i cant be sure but it sounds like the noise is coming from the back of the engine but thanx anyway

thought of that too so tried it with foot on and off the clutch.... no difference

Could be the alternator, does it make any difference with full beam lights on/off?
