Having just doing the head on my 1.4 petrol and renewing loads of stuff, just done a fault free 1000 mile trip on my hols to cornwall .The car was fully loaded and windows open all the way has air con didnt work, partner 2 kids and all luggage and i did not poodle along, i was very happy with 44 mpg average .
On return we had too much luggage , other half and shop lol. We saw halfords did a roof box half price and went to buy it. When we got there the bars and fitting kit were £150 so we left it. We were told because its a 3 door you need a extra bar going accross the back bars to fix box too. Has anyone got a roof box on a 3 door and can advice me please . Thanks

Just get a kit of ebay second hand, about 30 quid and you only require two bars.
One bolts in the middle of the doors and the second tucks in around the rear window edge

I have brought a roof box off ebay which comes with fitting kit to connect onto roof bars , and i have also won some roof bars for a 3 door model. halfords told me u need another kit for a 3 door model which has a bar going accross at the rear to sit box onto .He said u only need it for the 3 door has the 5 door is ok, just seeing if this is true , anyone have one fitted to a 3 door. Halfords wanted £260 for a 250 litre box completed , i am just picking up a 400 litre box and fitting kit plus bars for £86 so well pleased. Did not won't to sell the 206 after all the work i have done to it so fitting a box for trips and hols will mean i can keep it. Don't no how it will affect the mpg tho .

Its unlikely anyone will have one fitted but if you take what you already have and put them onto the car you will soon see if you need extra bars or anything and you can probably adapt what you have if it does need it at all.

Dont forget the windspeeds and the heavy or light weights involved depending if its loaded up or not..this can be improvised but it must be done well or your smalls could be spread half way across the motorway..

If your anywhete near Darlington id be happy to adapt it for you for some beer tokens of course...
