I know on some HDIs it is simple and can be lifted up through the hole under the back seat... and some HDIs you have to drop the tank...
I just wondered on a 2.0 multiplexed 206 hdi can the lift pump be replaced just by lifting up through the hole under back seats?
or.... is it a pain in the a...

Nice one! Yep started to get an issue starting and a tiny bit of brass swarf. So sure enough to take the gamble I think. New one on the way anyway

HP pump I pressure tested and is spot on filter has been doing its job well

To anyone who is planning on doing this job and stumbles across this thread. Do not be mislead by what you have read all over the internet!
£90 gets you a cheap pattern part (use at your own risk). This price goes up to £135 for geniune bosch.
If your unlucky you might find you have the not so common VDO Siemens unit that costs even more. Make sure you check the part number actually on your old lift pump before ordering a new one! Do not rely on someone to check for you. Lift up the seat, pull the plastic cap, part number is on the lift pump!
When your shiny new lift pump arrives you will probably find it doesnt come with a new rubber seal. More extra cost.
You will also probably break the plastic cover clips.
Expect to pay the best part of £200 for it to be done right!
But on the bright side, it looks like a very easy job I'll post back with more if need be... sorry this is probably meaningless drivel to most of you but it might help newcomers as I couldn't find much about this by googling.

It's actually really useful when people post follow up information, based on their own experiences.
There are always little things, like the rubber seal, that can easily be overlooked and assumed it comes with the pump.
Usually people's posts just fizzle out once they have sorted their problem and so someone searching this site with the same problem or query doesn't always find an answer.
Hope you get the new pump fitted OK or have done so already.
