I know sounds like a stupid question I know but just dropped the panel under the steering wheel to plug in diagnostics and this box fell out, not secured to anything, but my manual isn't here yet so thought I'd ask the experts.

Thanks guys

As James says, airbag module is in the centre, just in front of the gear stick.

Immobiliser is built into the cars electronics.

Looks like an aftermarket alarm or tracking device to me. Can't see the writing clearly to tell properly.
Could the car have been fitted with a black box as part of the insurance policy?
