Hi Guys,

I've recently had new front dampers/drop links fitted.

Suspension was great for about 3 days when I unfortunately hit badly tarmaced road repair. (ran the entire width of the road so no avoiding it)

Ever since that night the car suspension feels rock hard, cats eyes feel like rocks, the vibration seems to go right through the car & a faint thud can also be heard. As well as that there is now also a knocking noise (metal hitting metal type noise) coming from the passenger side.

Had the car on a ramp & the mechanic spent around 30mins trying to find where this knocking noise had come from (he was the same mechanic who had replaced the dampers/drop links) He said the top mounts/wishbones were fine but noticed the passenger 'pinch bolt nut' was very lose! Its being replaced tonight.

I do not think this is the only problem as this would not make the suspension rock hard after only 3 days of new dampers being fitted.

The springs are fine, new dampers aren't leaking, wishbones look fine, drop links fine. . .had the car on a weird kind of ramp that moved the suspension around & still couldnt find anything obvious?

Any ideas? I am thinking of getting another mechanic to look at it.

New nuts and bolts should always be used once the old ones are removed.

Bent damper? Could you do that without bending something else first?

Or could it be that the massive shock through the damper has damage the internal valving of the damper preventing the oil inside flowing through the valves properly?

Are you sure you don't have a broken spring?

sorry for the late response the car is being looked at tonight. The top mounts are being replaced as I had a box lying around. This will give us plenty of time to look over the suspension as well - thanks for the help & I hope to find the problem
