Hello,

I picked up a replacement for my pain in the a**e 1.6hdi at the weekend. A silver 2.0 HDi Dturbo on an 04 plate.

All has been lovely with this car, but it started throwing up a "Engine Immobilser Fault" on the screen sometimes when starting the car. It has not long had a new battery in it.

The car still starts and drives fine... anyone have any ideas? The car still has warranty so the garage will book it in locally for us. Just after some ideas so i don't get fobbed off?

Thanks... had a read of that earlier.

Will give the BSI reboot a try later... if that fails what else could it be? It odd because the car starts with no issues. Just a Bong sound sometimes and the needles reset themselves?

You would need to plug it into PP2000 to identify the fault otherwise you'd be there forever.

No problem, it will be being booked into an auto electrician locally once we speak to the garage we bought it from

Was wondering if the key had taken a bit of a bashing as it has a few marks on it

When you say new battery, i presume you mean the key fob. eliminateing that i am just wondering if the car battery itself is the original from new (varta) which would make the immobliser fault if the battery is on its way out.

No it had a brand new car battery on Wednesday, its very on and off when the warning comes up. Have started and driven it 3 times since posting this earlier and hasn't vome up once..

Spoke to an auto electrician on the phone and he thinks it could be a combination of it having a low battery before and perhaps a key going a bit dodgy

Seems to be sorted at the moment, but if the fault does accur again change the fob key battery, i had this problem a while back intermitent immobiliser fault changed fob battery and it sorted it, the old battery had only been in 6 months, must have been faulty.
