Evening all,
I've done a cursory search and came up with nothing so over to you…
Just noticed that my 206 has had a wiring modification done at some point in the past, i'm not sure if its a common mod (and the reason for it) or somebodies botch.
Anyhow the yellow/green wire has had an extra wire spliced onto it which is earthed directly to the chassis. The (seemingly) green wire on the MAF plug has been removed.
Does anybody have any idea what the person who did it was trying to achieve and even better does anybody have a wiring fuel system wiring diagram for me to scour.

There are 5 wires going to the MAF. If I recall it is:
1 - IAT Signal (Pink)
2 - +12v (Red)
3 - Earth (Yellow/Green)
4 - Disconnected/Not Used
5 - MAF Signal (Yellow)
6 - Earth (White)
Now I maybe wrong.
Your plug end, is fine/normal. That wire is always disconnected.
Again, this is vague knowledge but there is 100% a mod on the 306 community, where they wire the MAF earth straight to the chassis, as I think normally it shares an earth with the TPS (or something like that) and it has been known to cause problems with the engine management. I do not know if this mod applies to the 206 - probably not.
The "mod" in your case is only half done, as they are supposed to earth both pins 3 (IAT signal, already done) and 6.
Just seems like a previous owner had an issue, read some s**t online and tried half of something out.
Some crappy PDF I just found... wrote: |
MarkyMarks post sounded promising. Both the fuel temp and MAF/IAT sensors(combined)share
an earth with the APP sensors(again combined into one unit). The fix is to isolate the earth to
the pedal sensors by cutting the wires to the MAF/IAT(pins 3 and 6)then earthing

I should also add, as it is wired up now, it should be completely fine... So don't worry about it

Hmm, cheers for the info.
I'll check the continuity of the earth (yellow/green) tomorrow and see if there was a reason he did it. If all's good i'll remove it. If not i'll redo it properly.
Cheers!
