Hello everyone,
I fitted KYB Ultra SR Front Dampers around 10 Months ago ( Done no more than 12k Millage ). The Driver Side Damper has been replaced due to it being faulty with the exact same damper covered under warranty.
I asked KYB if they could also supply me another damper for the passanger side as I wanted to change both as a pair for saftey reasons, But they replied saying no they can only supply replacement for the faulty damper.
Is it ok to have 1 brand new damper and 1 with 12k millage? Should I be worried? What is your opinion and what would you do.
Thanks

A bit naughty of KYB but it shouldn't be anything to unduly worry. Yes dampers should be changed in pairs and some will scream for me suggesting it but 12,000 miles of sensible driving shouldn't be a problem.
Now if you have driven like the local treenage hooligan, taken speed bumps without care or driven like Colin McCrae it might not be good and you will have to fight KYB or pay for a new second shock.

Just an update, KYB did send a second damper and said they will honour it under warranty. Now I don't want to open a new post so I'll ask here.
In the last month I have changed both top suspension mounts with bearings, both dampers ultra sr kyb, both springs kyb, both links, 1 arm and both track ends and laser tracking today. Car still doesn't drive right. When I accelerate I can feel the steering wheel wanting to go right and when I release it pulls to the other side, I can't drive in a straight line people behind me must think what I'm doing, also when I brake it pulls right dangerously, passenger caliper and pipe have been changed, brakes have been bled ( I think this is related to the above. Also when I release accelerater car shakes badly and gear knob has vibrations.
Rear axle has been looked at and was told its fine, not wearing tyres and no noise.
I think all problems are related, hope someone can help because I've given up on mechanics. Should i scrap this car?
Thanks

A pretty good thread from someone with a similar problem
www.206info.co.uk/Foru...c/t=54530/
I remember we had an MG Metro in for repair. It had been stolen and during the pursuit the driver had lost it on a bend and bounced off the offside kerb and into the nearside kerb. When it was repaired the owner was complaining of the car pulling. After many hours trying to find the fault, and many parts replaced including sub frame and wheels and laser alignment. The problem was finally found in the diff. It hadn't liked having the driveshafts pushed into it so hard and one of the gears was slightly off. New diff/gearbox and it was sorted.

There is a very, very, very long thread on here with a similar problem. IIRC that was finally found to be suspension arms of slightly different lengths as an incorrect part (or mis-manufactured part) had been supplied and fitted.
If your suspension arm wasn't a genuine supplied by Peugeot arm I would get a genuine pair from them and have them fitted.
Even if the arm was from Peugeot I would check and double check.
Also if the new one arm that you have fitted is genuine Peugeot and the old isn't it could give the same feeling.

I think you will struggle to measure accurately as you will need to measure from centre of pivot points to centre of bottom swivel (ball) joint.
Good luck if you do though.

Yea, wasn't the best idea, but I'm sure it isn't the arm. If I put the car out if gear or put my foot down on the clutch the car doesn't pull at all its just when I accelerate. Could this be rear Mount issue? Car Judders when changing gear as well. Maybe because theirs so much play the driveshaft goes crazy?

Check the front bush in the wishbones / control arms , one will possibly be cracked / broken.
Had a similar problem, under acceleration pulling sharply , when backing off would seem to straighten , turned out to be the front bush on the left side.
Need to lift up so the wheels drop , turn the steering wheel so you can see the bush.

Accelerating or braking put massive load on the bushes amd exagerates any faulty or incorrect components. Check everything and check again.
Also check the rear of the car for failing wheel bearings or stub axle bearings. rear steering due to that can also give your symptoms.

Does anyone know roughly how long it should take to replace the rear engine mount? The mount that the driveshaft goes through? Or connected to the same bracket. Also if I'm changing the rear mount is there any other mount/bush I should be replacing together? I think my car has 2 rear mounts.
Thanks
