Hi everyone!
I just got my first car, a 2004 1.4 206 zest, and I've had a few problems with the audio system.
The first thing I noticed was after I programmed the radio buttons to various stations and tried to use the audio control stalk to change between them it would randomly jump between saved stations rather than sequentially . I'm not sure if this is a fault with the stalk, maybe the wiring, something else or if there is an obscure setting somewhere?
The second problem I'm having is that there is a CD stuck in the player itself. I imagine the only way to fix this is opening the radio itself and having a look at whats happening. I'm planning on adding an aux input adapter anyway so I'll need to take the radio out anyway. But I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of other things I could try or perhaps have and and fixed the problem?
The third and final thing isn't a problem but more of a mystery. Next to the steering wheel is what seems to be a small microphone who's cable disappears inside the dashboard with the steering wheel (Pictures: www.dropbox.com/s/wzvt....05.09.jpg
www.dropbox.com/s/5d64....05.22.jpg ) The pictures aren't incredibly clear and I can get some better ones if need be, but it is literally a little rounded triangle with a small hole in the middle. My next door neighbors son is a mechanic and he said it could be part of an immobiliser system, but said that he dosen't have much to do with the electronics. Personally I doubt an immobiliser would look like a microphone and I imagine the car would already have a factory fitted one. Similarly to the stuck CD I will be taking the radio unit out over the weekend so I will have a look then but if anyone has any idea what it could be (bluetooth system fingers crossed haha) please enlighten me!
Thanks for your help!
Chris

It sounds as if either your comm2000 is on it's way out or you have a faulty radio control stalk. The latter is cheaper to replace. Mine used to do the same and I found that if I just rocked the stalk a bit, it cured it. Not had a problem since I replaced the comm2000 though.
As you say, the pictures aren't clear but the standard immobiliser aerial runs from the ignition barrel area. Either someone has dicked about and fitted an aftermarket immobiliser, or it's not that at all. Best thing to do is see if you can follow the wires and see what they are connected to.

Well after taking off the fascia I did find where the end of the mysterious cable went, nowhere, it just ended in a bundle behind the fascia not plugged into anything but it is definitely a microphone. Whatever had been fitted, probably a bluetooth system, has been removed but they left the mic stuck on the dash :/
I'll probably leave both for now as outside of the jumpy memory switching the volume works fine and when I put the aux adapter in I won't need it anyway. Maybe in the future I'll see what I can do.
Thanks for the comment!
