just had the subframe out and changed the exhaust manifold and gasket, for a second hand one which i leak checked at work. put it all back together and there is still a terrible noise coming from the flexi joint had my hand all around exhaust system and no leaks.

this noise is really peeing me off, sounds like a blow but not.

any suggestions? 206 gti 180.

anyone had this problem? thinking of getting a rigid de cat pipe made?

With the engine at idle, get a mate holding a cloth to put his hand firmly over the tailpipe while you are underneath looking for the leak. The pressure from the tailpipe being blocked will exaggerate where the leak is and make it easier to find.
Best done when engine is cold as less chance off you burning yourself and the metal hasn't expanded with heat which could cause any hole to get smaller and harder to find.

You won't do any damage this way as the pressure build up in the pipe will move your mates hand away before it gets anywhere near doing any damage.

Was a new cat 1 year ago, was only a cheap one. Was thinking that could be part of the problem.

I've heard a cat rattle and it had fallen apart inside. Might be worth having a look inside it

Knock it from underneath and see if anything rattles or appears to move inside .. my Alfa cat broken in two and the rear half was moving around but the front piece wasn't ...
