Hi guys, I went and bought a complete car with a great axle to salvage for my XS, only problem is the car I bought is a non ABS model and my XS has ABS... the guy I had to fit the axle has now turned round and said it isnt possible and I will need an ABS axle? But I dont have time or money to go and buy another axle.
So is it possible to exhange the parts between the axles?
Thanks in advance
Glenn.

I think you'll need to strip the brakes on both axles and put your XS shoes, drums and back plates onto the replacement axle. Probably takes longer to do all that than it does to change the axle. Not sure if the stub axle is the same size though. That's something you would need to research on servicebox
I've heard of a garage replacing an axle and taking the discs off to convert to drum brakes although the customer wanted the discs leaving on. Took them over twice as long to do the job

Thanks for your quick reply macca! Aslong as I know its possible! The wheel bearings are the same part numbers on both cars so the stub axle will be the same!
I think the guy is reluctant to do the job now...
Thanks again!

I think the stubs in the axles need to be swapped over too or that might just be drum to Disc conversion. Im looking for a Gti rear axle so I can get Discs all round with ABS
