Hi All
Anybody had an issue with the fuel gauge seeming to change its mind on how much fuel you have everytime you start the car?
I filled up to full tank Wednesday and drove home. I got home with the needle just touching the lower end on the full marker. Start it up in the morning, says I have about 7/8th of a tank (the home journey was about 20 miles so I hope this isn't true!). Get to work, switch off, get back in about 5 hours later, still 7/8th full. Drive about 45 miles. When I turn the car over next, I have apparnetly got a full tank again 
Checked voltage from the sender and all is fine and working as it should be. Anyone have any ideas?

Bloody hell this multiplexing malarky has a lot to answer for...
It didn't do it when I first had the car though, only recently started doing it?
I do get a P code relating to the fuel tank magnet not being detected/recognised - could that be related? (I have a Peugeot OEM fuel filler cap, but I'm not worried about the magnet error stopping the ELOYS fluid dosing for my diesel... if you know what I mean :whistle:)

I have a Peugeot 206 1.4 HDI and the fuel gauge has never worked properly since I got 4 years ago.
Similar to yours - the gauge changes each time you switch the ignition on and off for a while.
I have changed the sender unit but it was still the same afterwards.
It seems to be a fault with the actual gauge or something in the wiring.
Anyway the good news is, and hopefully for yours as well, the low fuel warning light still comes on when there is about a gallon of fuel left in the tank.

PSA multiplexed fuel gauges work slightly differently
They hate having the odd £5 / £10 of fuel being added to the tank, best way with them is brim the tank every time you add fuel & just wait till it gets near the fuel light coming on then brim it.

Yeah thats what I've started doing (ish) around about fuel light time top it up to 3/4 + seems to be ok now. No more £20 splash and dashes then
