Hi

i have a problem with my 2004 206 cc 1.6 quicksilver

On my way home I felt an heard a grinding in first gear when at about 2000 revs. The grinding got gradually worse as I was trying to get home. At one point I lost 1st gear and had to put the car in second to get moving. When I got home my gears completely locked up and could only start the car if the clutch was down. I eventually was able to push the car slightly which made a slight crunch but it released the gears.

I can occasionally select all gears when the car is off and without the clutch. When the engine is on I can select all gears when the clutch is used however the reverse is very temperamental but i can select it.

I have been able to move the car in first a little and reverse. I can find the biting point on all gears but occasionally the gears still completely lock up!

Sometimes there is a grinding when in neutral and the clutch it up and the sound goes when I put the clutch down. Sometimes it sounds fine with the clutch up : (

I have not gone back on the road with the car only moved it back and forth by about 3 meters.

I'm at a loss. Could it be the gearbox, clutch, linkage. I have googled my heart out and most point to the linkage where as a friend says its the gearbox. Someone else has said its the clutch not releasing.

PLEASE HELP ME

Doesn't sound like clutch. Sounds like time for someone experienced to have a look at your car for diagnosis.
