Hi all,

I have searched around for an answer to my question but i have not found a suitable answer.

My brother in laws 2003 (53) 1.1LX has the common problem of when indicating right, the indicator changes to left when self cancelling.

My question:

On a 2003 multiplexed 206, is it possible to change just the stalk? or does it require a whole com 2000 unit? If it is possible to change just the stalk, does the steering wheel and airbag need to be removed?

Thanks in advance.

Complete com 2000 unit.

Airbag & steering wheel need to be removed to change it.

Com 2000 unit's can be taken apart & most faults repaired IF you know what your doing BUT if you break the unit in the process the car isn't going anywhere till you fit a replacement.

Euro car parts do new Valeo com units & these are very good quality, normally have to order them in.

There are people on Ebay that offer Com unit repairs BUT remember the car isn't driveable while the unit is removed.

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I repair laptops frequently so i think i can replace the small nylon plunger in the stalk. One other question, I remember from years ago when i changed the steering wheel on my 1999 206 that the airbag wire was like a coiled spring inside the steering column that sprang out everywhere when i pulled the steering wheel off. I spent a while at the time re coiling it just right so that it could rotate fully in both directions. Are newer multiplexed 206s the same? or is there just a normal connector under the airbag?

Thanks

The airbag wiring is part of the Com unit.

Set the front wheels straight before you remove the steering wheel & don't rotate the airbag wiring part of the Com unit.

There are 2 x airbag plugs & 1 x horn plug that come out the front of the com unit on short lengths of wiring that connect to the airbag & steering wheel.

Ok great,

One final question (i promise).

Can i find what unit i need to buy without removing anything beforehand?

It doesn't have fog lights on the left stalk, and no auto lights. It does have a stereo controller.

Many thanks for all your help!

Look the part number up on Peugeot Service box via the VIN number.

OR if you havent got access to Service Box pm me the VIN & ill have a look.

The radio stalk is just clipped in to a socket in the com, it's not part of the actual com unit - this stalk is simply swopped.
