My 206 HDI 2.0 is on 124k and i have no service history for it. By the millage the belt should have been done but i can't confirm this. is there a way i can check the condition? or even take it somewhere to check? Is it worth doing the belt just to be on the safe side of things? and while I'm here whats an average cost of getting the belt done obviously it varies from garage to garage but just to get a rough idea

Often it's not the belt that fails but the adjusters and idlers wheels.
I'd just bite the bullet and get it all changed as piece of mind ...

I had a HDI done for a total of £302 inc VAT at a good quality main dealer level garage.

Was just talking to a friend there that works at stagecoach he said one of the mechanics they will take 140 to do it and thats with the belt supplied so I'm probably just going to get it done for piece of mind and knowing that its been done

You'll want the water pump replaced too.

if you are a new owner of this car,I suggest that you replace the belt, and water pump as well,so buy a complete timing belt kit+water pump, new thermostat, and coolant, and you will be good to go for another 100K Miles

May be worth a pop at looking at the MOT history of the car.
www.gov.uk/check-mot-status
It may show up as having a record of the same MOT station past few years, and maybe the previous owner had all the servicing done there.
Worth a shot.
