Hi, first time 206 owner as of yesterday, 2000 206 2.0 gti. I love it. A couple of issues though and hoping some of you more experienced guys may be able to help.
1. My central locking doesn't work, it bounces every time. I can manually lock both doors after it bounces 3-5 times so I'm thinking the issue is with the boot lock. I'm gonna buy some wd40 tomorrow and give it a good spray but if that doesn't work does anyone have any other ideas?
2/3. I'll put these two together because the first issue created the second. My cigarette lighter doesn't work, after seeing if I could get it out I noticed it wasn't plugged in, so I went about taking the middle out to get to it. Successfully plugged it back in and put it all back together but no luck. Checked the fuse box and noticed the fuse was blown so replaced it. Whilst I was there I noticed a lot of fuses in spaces that are labelled in the manual as "free" so I took all of them out as I like to keep my spares in the glovebox. This still didn't rectify the issue of the lighter not working. I have noticed the inside is very rusty, could this be the issue? Just as I had given up on the cigarette lighter, for now, I noticed a new problem which was definitely caused by me. Oops. Now my electric windows and mirrors switch isn't working. It was definitely working before but not now. There doesn't seem to be a fuse for the switch judging by the manual, tomorrow I will take it all apart again incase I've damaged a wire somewhere but can anyone think of anything that I could check first?
All help is appreciated, and sorry about the essay haha

Welcome! Defo get some pics up.
What does the boot lock look like? is it really rusty? My boot is pretty loose but it locks, there are loads of posts on here about central locking and it bouncing so worth a search.
Regarding the lighter, my lighter socket is also rusted to hell and gone, the lighter itself works but some other items do not so I know it's the socket i.e rust that is causing the problem so perhaps it needs a good old clean.
On the windows it sounds like you have removed a fuse, I never trust fuse instructions, if there is a fuse in a socket then I leave it. My old frontera had the fuse map inside the fuse box and it didn't match what was actually happening. If I removed the inside light switch the engine wouldn't start?!!?1 I would put em back how you found it and then go back from there lol

Thanks! I'll get some pics tomorrow when it's a bit lighter outside haha but I'll give the wd40 a go tomorrow and if that fails I'll have a look round the forum for other ideas.
Mine wouldn't power an in car hoover but I never actually tried using the lighter, oops, I'll give that a go tomorrow and see if I can pick up a decent one from a scrapyard. The screw in it is completely rusted, would the only way to get it out be breaking it? I may give it a go with a pair of thin nosed pliers. If a new, not rusted one doesn't work, any ideas?
With the fuses I had a look and none of the holes with missing fuses have metal receptors on them. I really hope I haven't broke them haha if I get one of those screwdrivers with the light on it, would I be able to test to see whether there's power at all the fuses and then at the switch? That would help determine whether it was the wiring or not. If I can't fix it what so ever and the reason they don't work is because there's no power to the switch I was thinking of diverting power from the cig lighter to the switch. Would you advise against this?
Thanks for the reply, sorry I have so many questions haha

so you don't have the cigarette lighter then? I plug my FM transmitter into the light socket and it used to work but no longer does, I have to twist it and wiggle it about to get it to work. It stopped working a few days ago but the lighter still works.
To me it sounds like a fuse is missing or broken but perhaps someone else can add something.

And please delete this one, my only issue now is the central locking but I've read a lot of posts so will attempt everything mentioned.
