Last night when i was pulling into a friends house a loud metal grinding noise just started with no warning or gradual increase of sound it just started and it was deafening. It sounded like a metal plate spinning and grinding against something. Either way i parked the car and got my dad to come pick me up and have a look at the car he said the bottom pulley was really slack and if i drove any further it would have most likely fell off. What exactly would cause this to happen? I knew the crankshaft pulley was needing done but the garage i took it to said I'm best to leave until its properly f****d and there is a good few hundred miles left lucky if iv'e done 60 since i took the car to him. If i tighten the pulley up whats the chances of it becoming slack again? Very, im guessing?

Bottom pulley is crank pulley? Peugeot have redesigned the part as it was a known issue. I wouldn't risk driving it until changed.
