Hi all,

For the past week my Peugeot 206 has been playing up a bit. While driving slowly or turning (2nd gear), the car would just shut down and steering wheel would become "solid". The car would start after second attempt.
I visited a mechanic, servicing is scheduled for the coming Saturday.
I wonder whether it can be due to battery?
The car is of 2002, I have been driving it since 2011.

Thank you for any advice.

I would be inclined to change the battery if you don't know how old it is. Normally solves alot of problems.

What model and engine, I would be inclined to think idle control valve (ICV)

Note: with the engine stopped the power steering pump isn't working so steering will go very stiff.

I would ask the garage to both load test the battery and measure the specific gravity of the electrolyte in the battery before renewing it.

I wouldn't assume battery at this point. Guessing and throwing money at faults quickly gets expensive and any good garage or mechanic can test a standard battery and prove condition before changing it.
