Hi
My girlfriend has a 2001 Peugeot 206 LX5 1.1.
Last week as she was driving home the engine cut-out and we called the AA.
They tried connecting their diagnostics unit but it showed no fault. It started sometimes but then after a few seconds cut out again. Intermittant fault. They also directly sprayed petrol straight into engine and still didn't start. Brought it to my mechanic and he ordered and installed new fuel pump assembly, problem still there, he fitted new fuel pump relay, still no joy. She then tried starting it with her 2nd key and it started straight away and kept running for about 15 minutes so we thought this was the problem, a key re-coding issue. But then it cut out again, started it and drove for a while and cut out again. So mechanic suggested taking it to Peugeot main dealer as they had the Peugeot diagnostics machine, so we towed it there. They connected to their Peugeot Planet diagnostics machine but it did not communicate with it and so they spent a few hours trying to trace electrical fault, but no joy and so I didn't want to keep paying them an hourly rate to trace fault so asked them to stop. They gave a 1 line report (wasn't impressed with them at all) stating "Checked engine management system, unable to interogate injection ECU. Suspect wiring fault or fault in ECU". So we got it towed home. Considering bringing to an auto-electrician.
Any suggestions as to what this fault could be, a faulty crank sensor, faulty wiring. To my mind, if there was no communication with the ECU and no voltage present at the ECU then surely that would rule out an ECU problem and that problem is a break in the circuit going to the ECU??
Any help greatly appreciated. Can you get the wiring diagram for this model, couldn't seem to find it on web?

Check the earth lead under the battery box. Common for them to rust through and cause all sorts of problems
