So I'm finally planning to get round to fitting the new Mtec grooved and drilled discs I've got.
Now I've looked up the whole ABS issue needing PP to bleed the system but is that really the case?
I've read a lot of conflicting comments on here in regards to needing it/not needing it from members who are very much in the know (baring in mind these are 5 year old posts & comments)
Is it just safer to use PP or can the Gunson kit be just as effective?
I really don't need the ball ache of it messing up when I need it for work at the moment and as I don't have PP I may just have a local pug place do it instead.

I have never used pp2000 on my pug over the last 6 years and my brakes have always been perfect, I use the bleed easy kit using tyre pressure with no problems at all. Starting furthest away moving to the next furthest away from the front of the car/brake master cylinder when bleeding.

If your only changeing the discs and pads then you should not need to bleed the system anyway.

I always flushed out the old brake fluid every 12 months, and split the calipers down and greased them up and if needed changed seals when changing disks and pads. Probably unnecessary on a 12 month basis but it's a quick easy job and the brakes are the most important part of the car.

i would say imho that is a tad ocd  but its never a bad thing to go right through them, they do recommed a fluid change every 2 yrs anyway.
But i bet there are thousands of cars on the road that have never been done since the car was new.

OCD or doing a proper job, I would say the latter. I know my brakes are as good as they could ever be and will not be binding, or wearing the pads unevenly. Such an easy job that will give you better braking efficiency so why not.

So it is possible to bleed the brakes without pp?? That is great news if so. Would that be the same if the abs pump is changed?

I'm not too sure about if its the same for changing the abs pump I have not had to do that "yet", but yes you can definitely bleed the brakes with out pp2000 because I have done it a countless amount of times. Infact I need to do it this week with fitting the Gti6 Front caliper and disk setup.
