Hi
The driver side rear light and number plate lights have stopped working on the car, which seems to coincide with when the battery earth strap went faulty, and has since been replaced. All brake lights work, it's just the normal rear light.
I have checked every fuse and have tried another light cluster so I know it is not that, and have tried different bulbs in the number plate light.
Can anyone help me out here?

Still an issue? You need to trace continuity with a multimeter, buy a bleeping one at maplin's or fleabay.

Just checked the wiring diagram, looks like your numberplate issue might hide in the tailgate's mid-section (orange wire, V1806), as later that wire is spliced with the other numberplate light of mauve colour wire.
By saying rear light, I think you meant tail-light. That will be red wire V35A later spliced with beige colour one, going all the way up to the fuse F35, where it meets with driver's front side light wiring. With multimeter I would first test the splicing points, later try to bisect them surgically via needle probes, which would also require digging the cable from under interior carpets/trims.

When disconnecting the battery to do electrics, or just to change it, you need to follow this guide. Failure to do this could result in a £600 bill from Peugeot!
* Put down the drivers window.
* Pop and Open the bonnet. Shut ALL DOORS apart from the bonnet.
* Leave the car for at least 3 minutes. This allows the BSI to shut down and go to "sleep."
* Disconnect the clamps on the battery, and change/do electrics/whatever you are planning to do. If performing a soft reset, leave the battery disconnected for a few minutes
* When reconnecting, reattach the clamps on the battery. Don't shut the bonnet yet. Leave the car for a few more minutes. This allows the car to settle.

* Let the car finish thinking about everything, and check all the systems etc.
* Start the car.

Just an update on this, I tried the BSI reset which did not appear to fix the fault immediately. The tail lights are now working oddly enough though. The only other thing I can think of is that I recently had an ECU tuner read my ECU to see if it is mappable, and perhaps this might have 'woken' the system to get the light working again. Who knows.
The number plate lights were a separate issue though, it was because the metal V shaped clips that the bulbs plug into had separated too far, causing bad electrical connection to the bulbs.
