Been working through a boat load of problems on a friends 1.4 hdi, it stopped at the side of the road and wouldn't start again.

PP2000 threw up a pile of codes, too many to be "real" faults, i chased around bad earthing, some pages of PP2000 reading 0v, others reading 14v, seized radiator fan, rotted wiring, etc..

REALLY rotted wiring ...

And i've got the error codes down to an intermittent fault on the cam timing, bad MAF earth (even though the air temp and flow values were correct) and today it threw a p1403 which my google-fu tells me is related to the egr heater/cooler. (egr is reading as 100% all the time too)

And suddenly the penny dropped the only thing they all have in common is the connector on the back of the engine, potentially more corroded wiring.

BUT, how the hell do i undo it? I can just about get my finger tips to it from either side so i'm guessing i'll need to drop the left hand engine mount to get access, but how does the plug/socket itself undo?

Been at this on & off for over a fortnight (moment the sun comes out the wife has me working on the garden Sad ) and i want to see the back of it!

Cheers Smile
