hi people,

yet another issue with my lovely 206,

my car makes a weird clunk noise when going over slightly un even road surfaces. small pot holes for example. it does not sound right.

when i twist the wheel from left to right i get a slight bit of movement and a clunk.

any ideas? need to get this sorted

thanks in advance

Lee

Hi
I can't help with your issue but I have the same thing. It's annoying. I'm guessing it's the drop links, there's no movement when the wheels are on the ground but that could be due to the weight of the car on them.
It would be worth checking those first.

My bet on drop links too.

If you get under the car and ask someone to go on full lock (will work only one direction like you said, from left to right), you'll see the faulty droplink popping about its balljoint and making that clunk. Putting palm on the droplink would feel it pop too (health & safety first)

I discovered that myself when both front wheels were jacked up in the air (the weight off as Pp4811 said)

Word of warning, do not go to full lock and back when you have only one side jacked up by the sill - the car will tilt and grind the jack/stand

Drop links should be easy enough to do yourself bud. I'm a complete and utter mechanical idiot and managed drop links on my lunch break before.

Is that £15 for the pair? Best off changing them as a pair.

Don't buy cheap ebay crap or you'll be changing them again in under 6 months.

Shut it u stupid little f**k, what's the point in posting in all my treads being such a c***? Least I can afford a gti180, and to get the cam belt done!

So apparently everyone knows my financial situation? If I wanted a 180 I would have bought a 180 simples Smile

So drop links came today but they don't have the common hex key in the centre of the bolt is that a good or bad thing?

Don't know how you would keep the joint from turning while doing the nut, if bolts are standard blank. The ones (one up from cheapest) on eurocarparts had torx in them bolt ends, conveniently
