Hello.
'02 206 gti
My ABS light is on, the mechanic (reputable) plugged it in and diagnosed the problem to be with the ABS pump. He told me a new one would be worth more than the car but he can send it off to be refurbished. I am waiting for him to come back to me with the cost for that.
I asked him if I could not just buy a used one and he said no and explained it to me that a used ABS pump comes with the previous cars history and it would not work if I put it in my car.
I am confused then as to why used ABS pumps are readily available and having read some threads on here, other people have replaced theirs with used pumps. I am confused then as to how that works and honestly looking to save £'s!
Thanks for any advice!

If its the ecu at fault just get one off a gti and it will be fine. Make sure its pre plex or multi to match your vehicle.
If yours has esp you need that too, ecu are bolt on bolt off jobs. Takes about 20 minutes

Thanks for the reply. I have no idea if it's the ecu or what. All he told me was the pump was at fault and knowing not alot, I didn't know what questions to ask.
I see alot of the pumps are being sold with an ecu?? Would it be safer for me to just buy that? Would I need to make sure the part numbers match the one I have and how do I find my part number?
Thanks again

I have been quoted £535 to have my abs pump rebuilt. That is not going to happen.
Anyone able to assist me please, thank you!

It will more than likely be the ecu, i changed a few over the years.
Just swap the ecu across and you will have no issue
Only past 2014 with tps built in peugeots you need to match the ecu to the abs block

Thanks for the reply.
I really am at my wits end with this. I bought a used pump and ecu, I did make sure the one I bought had exactly the same part numbers. I had someone do the work for me.
The ABS warning light is not coming on at all when I start the car and it is still beeping and displaying an ABS fault on the display screen after a few seconds.

You will probably need to have the fault cleared as the bsi might not know its been changed. I had to when i had abs sensor issues.
Does your speedo work ok?
Where are you in the world?

Hi
I have just joined, sorry my first post is a query - my bad.
Just bought a 206HDi with 57k on the clock. 20 miles later the abs fault lights etc came up. 200 miles after that a front wheel bearing seized and took a cv joint out with it. I've just replaced the driveshaft and wheel bearing, I was hoping that all the cv grease etc was the cause of the abs issue but it appears not.
Now, when I can find out how to top up the gearbox and to what level, I'll take it for a run to see if it clears, but if not, I presume a new front sensor, tried on each side in turn, is the way to go?
Gratful for any help from anyone..
Cheers
Nick
