Hello new here and looking for advice please , my son bought Peugeot 206 2000 model came with full mot dated from December with no advisories
anyway started having problems within couple of weeks , revving going up and down when idle etc was advised that it was because it hadn't been used for a while and few good runs should sort it
Problem got worse so bought a diagnostic code reader and it gave codes pO200 and p0300 did a lot of googling
And came to conclusion needed a new coil pack which we fitted and it improved no end for a couple of weeks
then it started again and gradually got worse and started cutting out whilst driving
more research and new spark plugs and coil pack , redex treatment later ended up worse took to garage they did diagnostic £20 and said it was fuel injectors and charged £350

Lad on here had something similar to this a while back. It turned out the coil pack was actually arcing onto the block somewhere, shorting and causing a misfire. Those codes look to indicate a misfire on cylinder 1. A list of common causes is below (off t'internet):
- Faulty spark plug (s)
- Faulty ignition coil (s)
- Clogged or faulty fuel injector (s)
- Intake air leak
- Fuel injectors harness is open or shorted
- Fuel Injectors circuit poor electrical connection
- Ignition coils harness is open or shorted
- Ignition coils circuit poor electrical connection
- Insufficient cylinders compression
- Incorrect fuel pressure

The air leak and fuel pressure we can rule out as if it were one of those, all cylinders would be showing misfire at some point. Have you tried swapping the injector from cylinder 1 with one of the others? If the misfire moves with the injector, at least you know it is that?

Thanks do you know how he rectified that problem?
Not messed with injectors as they charged so much to put them in I thought it was more a specialist job
And them being new etc - hopefully garage will sort it tomorrow I'm just worried they'll come up with something unnecessary and costly when it's actually worse since they did it so maybe that job didn't need doing after all

It is very easy to change the injectors....and you can get them new on ebay for around £50...second hand a lot cheaper. When my car was running on three cylinders the garage wanted to change all four ...£80 each!! Used part on ebay, £15...back running on all four.

Thanks almost wish I hadn't read that lol 350 they charged , I asked about doing just faulty ones and they said it would mess with electrics

Typical garage boll***s. I regularly had my injectors and plugs out of my old fiesta!
As for the lad that had the arcing, I think he changed coilpack and put something non-conductive around the area where it was arcing to take the path to ground away.

Thanks for that in future will definitely look into it ourselves
hard as with insurance so high for young drivers he's almost working just to pay for the car to get him to work and back , if they come up with stuff tomorrow that seems dubious ill tell him to bring it back and we can spend weekend going through it , that info with cool pack sounds good thanks

I would advice you to have a compression test for all 4 cylinders,and make sure all readings are good,and close to each other.

Thanks I'm already het up as when dropped it off without even looking he said he thinks it's a cam shaft / crank , I asked why that would suddenly have problems first driven after they did fuel injectors and he said - one of those things . I don't really buy that think they coked it up and maybe damaged something else guess ill have to wait for the phone call

So as their main technician not in till Monday been told they've fixed the leak in the new fuel injectors ( why would they be leaking new and newly installed? Although I felt it was maybe botched) but saying it is still misfiring so they want to keep it till they figure it out
