Hi, my friend 's 2005 206 has problem starting and poor acceleration, smoke coming out of air filter pipe when revving engine which I think is egr valve area. Computer scan said turbo/supercharge under boost?

Mileage is 69,000

My suspect is
Catalyst filter blocked
Turbo begun to fail
EGR valve filled up with deposit need cleaning

Car dint drive much by previous owner who is lady and drive locally.

Probably all the above as well as FAP filter failed/blocked.

if you have any kind of vacuum leak, the car will be set in limp mode, and so there will be poor acc.,so you need to fix the smoke that is coming out from the air filter pipe, and check all the hoses, and see how car acts next, but u need to clear the fault code as well.

The smoke out of the filter is likely due to a blocked DPF (or as the frenchies call them FAP).

You friend does not have a cat, just a dpf.

If the DPF is blocked, it will increase back pressure to the turbo, possibly causing turbo stalling (and shaft failure - couple of hundred for a replacement garret snail), EGR valve blockage, and a carbon buildup in the oil from where the carbon starts settling in the cylinders due to the back pressure (= rebore required and carbon in oil = turbo failure). The EGR could well be blocked, but I bet this is due to a DPF issue at it's root. If it is, get it removed and remapped (yes it's illegal, but it's only an MOT requirement to have the canister there if it was there when it rolled out the factory, so if the canister is empty...........

The underboost is because the turbine is stalling out under the back pressure, causing the shaft to slow and not compress the inlet air, creating less boost than the ECU is expecting.

Short drives are terrible for this car. Your friend needs to get it running, then take it for a blast down the local dual carriageway/motorway in 3rd, keep the revs above 3k for 10 mins and it should at least partially clear the DPF (enough to get it to a garage for some smashy smashy time)

1.6HDi. Pull like a train. Smokes like one too!

Thank you, i have checked it was dpf. Took to Perry garage in Aylebury where my friend uncle worked there.

They have replace dpf and found egr valve is in mess so replace aswell. Drive great until went up hill was a struggle went back to Perry garage to have clutch and flywheel swap.

Drive fine now and repair bill cost less as his uncle work there Laughing
