Hello all,

My little pug is a 1.1 S and at the moment I have 15" nimrods on it but I have seen some 17" vortex alloys that I want to get.

Would this make much noticeable difference in acceleration? I know a 1.1 doesn't exactly have any but I want to know if they weigh a lot more and I will notice it.

Many Thanks.

Vortex's are the nicer looking alloys but the heavy 17's on a 1.1 won't do you any favours on what is already a pretty sluggish car.
Stick to the 15's or even look other alternatives like cyclones or the 205 speedlines

I'd imagine there would be quite an increase in unsprung weight with the vortex's compared to the nimrods, which isn't very good. Acceleration will be slower, however you'll be increasing the top speed (not that its important in the 1.1) as you're changing the gearing in a way.

Ultimately, if you want something that looks good go for the vortex's. If you want speed (relatively speaking Razz ) go for 14" steelies. However the 15"/16" nimrods are the perfect compromise imo.

Cheers guys, I wouldst mind the look of the vortex alloys but I don't like the idea of unsprung weight and different forces etc.

Ill just get my 15" nimrods sprayed a different colour so they look different!

You won't be increasing the top speed at all with bigger wheels unless it's revving over it's peak power revs as standard. It will probably slow it down!
