Hi, I have a Peugeot 206 and the reverse lights don't work,
I've checked bulbs and fuse also I get power at the gearbox switch, I tried bridging the gearbox switch connector and the rear lights still didn't light up. Anyone had this before?

What year? IE multiplexed or not.
IIRC on the multiplexed system the signal from the the gearbox switch is just an input into the BSI, not directly powering the lights as on the pre-plexed.
Yep, looks like... see diagram 3 here for multiplexed, or diagram 6, here, for pre-plexed

Ok I worked out I have multiplexed, hazard switch and central locking button.
Does the letter and numbers on the cable
In the diagram relate to the number stamped onto that cable? So CM17A going to gearbox reverse switch will be stamped on that cable is this correct?

Thanks for the reply,
It's a 55 plate hdi, how can i work out the colour of the cable
Coming out the bsi to rear reverse light, the diagram there doesn't show it.
I take it I would have multiplexed? |
Not familiar with the UK plate system, but IIRC the switch to multiplex was sometime in 2001. Easy check: look at your stereo control stalk, long and skinny->pre-plex. short and stubby->multiplex.
For the multiplexed: colours aren't 100% - look at the numerical code printed on the wire; should be 2200. Should the in position 7 of a 16-pin black connector on the BSI.

Wouldn't it be in pin5 of bsi? Looking at the multiplexed diagram?
I can't make out which one would be out for the reverse lights though either 1,7, or 10 of plug 16NR
Any idea?

Pin 5, green 16-pin connector looks to be the input into the BSI from the gear box switch.
The way I read it, out from the BSI to the lightsshould be wire 2200, from pin 7 of a 16-pin black connector at the BSI to pin 2 on the black 6-pin connector on the left rear light unit (to item 22b, reversing light, in the unit), from there it jumps to pin 5 on the connector on the right hand rear light. According multiplex diagram 3.

It's succes!!
Found on another forum that someone posted it connects before the bulkhead into a connector then off to the bsi, I removed ecu in engine bay near bulkhead and there it was not even plugged in! I can only think previous owner as work done and it wasn't connected back up!ive only had the car 2 weeks.
Least it was a cheap fix,
big thanks to you all for the help!!
