Hi, have a Y reg 206, and just fitted glove box light and switch as described elsewhere on this site (thanks to all who have advised on this by the way!  ). However, as well as the switch and lamp wiring (which were on the right side of the removed glove box) there was also a couple of wires with a small plug, clipped to the bulkhead/firewall behind the glove box. Anyone know what this is for. I can't remember the colour of the wires (will check when its light), but could it be wiring for passenger foot well lamps? I also haven't checked to see if there is an identical one on drivers side. Haynes manual doesn't seem to help here!

Usually it's the CD changer or a SatNav system that lives inside glovebox and needs to plug into a connector behind it.

Hi image here when I've worked out how to upload them . I can only find it on passenger side with a brown wire and an orange wire.

Looking at a wiring diagram in Haynes manual think it may be alternative wiring for aerial. It's in the right place and orange right colour so I'll just leave it alone!

Actually just discovered it was brake light wiring. Someone noticed no brake lights were working and other places on this forum point out that brake pedal switch is on the left even on a RHD car. How stupid.

The 206 was originally designed as a LEFT hand drive car.
It has been converted for right hand drive so that's why there is a brake transfer linkage bar behind the dash that connects the brake pedal to the master cylinder under the bonnet.
Shocked you haven't moaned yet about the bonnet release handle being on the wrong side to for right hand drive.

He needs to buy a new car - they don't even bother moving the fuse box now, so you get a pointless glovebox!
