Hello guys long time lurker of these forums and the old ones have been extremely helpful in the past! Very Happy

I've had a few 206s the past 5 or so years and I love them problems and all.

Recently though my latest is giving me some serious grief with just about everything that can go wrong is starting too and if I hadn't just replaced a s**t load of parts and bought a new gearbox/clutch and had it fitted last month (havent even drove it on road yet as need MOT doing) it would've been scrapped and I'd be off to find a new one!

So onto this dreaded problem so many people have but I cant seem to find anyone replying that they fixed it or have found out what the problem is.

To start I have already bought and had fitted a new coilpack+plugs (correct ones)
Had injector O rings replaced as one was a bit frail and causing some problems it seems

So after getting new GB + Clutch fitted there is still a slight grinding noise coming from what seems to be the clutch when in neutral/clutch down but thats a problem for a different time/thread unless anyone knows xD.

I've just been out to test it see if everythings ok and ready to get the MOT done, it idles perfect can run for hours just sat on my drive not moving clutch feels lovely apart from the sound which is barely noticeable tbh.

But since this GB+C work was done my car just seems to commit suicide/try to kill me (cut out) when clutch is pressed (& braking) so I'll go to stop at traffic lights, clutch in, let revs drop, boom cut out same when coasting. Not stalling like the revs are too low or something is f*****g up it just cuts out like the keys were turned and the car switched off and back on. Loss of power steering + brakes really stiff.

Does anyone have any clue at all what might be causing this?

I noticed my oil pressure sensor/switch is leaking oil or what the hell is it?

www.eurocarparts.com/e...amp;000519

Is this the right part? should this stop the leak based on pics below?

This is taken after I cleaned all the oil off the part and you can see the oil starting to come through again

When it's left for a while this stuff gets all over that white/grey plug thing coats it and the wire stuff in the oil, it gets on my exhaust and can smell it burning in my car when I have the heaters on
Horrible smell first time I thought my car was about to go up in flames (smoke coming up from engine bay)

Few more pics

I dont know if this will be whats causing the above cutting out but maybe you guys know?
I'm not a mechanic I have no idea I am more of a comp/tech guy but am trying to learn how to fix cars myself and save some money!

I read it could be something to do with the grounding wire maybe? Where do I start trying to diag this problem?

It all started going wrong a few months ago after I travelled from Manny -> Birmingham to get those lovely 206cc alloys

And did about 3 return trips from Manchester ways -> Lakes

My first problem before all of this started happening I had water/coolant in my passenger footwell one wintery jan morning at the beginning of the year which I think was the cause of my headgasket going and needing to be replaced which also caused me to go through coolant like nothing I have ever seen before.

All of these problems have started since then. It also seems to get hot really quickly to 90+ deg and the cooling fan kicks in a lot more than it used to in any other 206 I've had

So timeline of problems I have had with this car since getting it Dec2015

- Water in pass footwell
(still havent fixed what caused it to this day am scared will cause headgasket to go again)

- Headgasket goes had it replaced after getting sick of leaving people behind me at lights in clouds of steam

- Coilpack + plugs replaced
One is apparently threaded is this bad? (cost me £20 just to get it all fitted + plugs right)

- Gearbox goes + clutch is making grinding sound
Arrow shows part that was broke (clicking/not smooth)

- Replaced gearbox(2nd hand) + clutch brand new
New(ish) gearbox doesnt have the clicking/notch sound which came from above part
Still making a slight grinding/scraping sound like 2 stones being rubbed together
Not sure if its getting quieter as clutch starts getting worn so maybe something wrong with flywheel/something rubbing on pressure plate?

- Leaking oil pressure switch

- The big problem / worst yet engine cutting out when braking/clutch is pressed (coasting)
Starts back up straight away like nothing happened no warning lights no EML nothing.

Anyone have any ideas? I really dont want to scrap this car it is my baby and I love it.

Hello there!

Many variables involved while reading through, but cutting out usually means engine ECU goes bananas due to some wrong load/air/fuel/rpm mixture, which might be caused by a knackered sensor or two, such as MAF or crankshaft.
Since depressing a clutch causes a sudden RPM drop..

Read off fault codes with PP is first thing.

And as for the rattling clutch, as a good bed read I recommend Mr Piggy Smile

Ty for reply Smile
Actually figured this out guys, took out the air box and had a good root around an noticed on the back of the gear box where the rods for gearstick are there was a connector thing that wasnt connected and that fixed the cutting out! Very Happy

Also got the oil pressure switch fixed so no more leaking oil all over my exhaust!

Trying to get it in for MOT asap finger crossed will pass cant wait!

Hi,

Having a similar issue with the stalling, can you give a little more info on what type of connector thingy it is.
