Hi
I'm having a problemwith my 1.4 8v 206. When I accelerate not particularly hard it pulls to the right and when I come off the throttle it pulls back to the left. When going around a right hand bend it's worse you can almost steer it without turning the wheel. Left hand bend no problem.
I have replaced the two wishbones drop links and track rod ends. Both wheel beaqring are good and no drag on the brakes. Strurts are good and firm and the engine mounts are good although I did change the gearbox one just to be sure. Tyre pressures are balanced no play or knocks in the drive shafts and I am now at a loss as to what the problem is. One thing I have noticed is that if I adjust the wheel alignement to 1.5 degrees toe out the torque steer is much better and barely noticeable however the tyres are wearing down very quickly.
The only thing I can think of is the gearbox or diff. There is a small rumble from it. Could the gearbox be the problem or can you think of something that I may not have considered. No play in the steering rack either.

Your tracking is out get it realigned at a alocal tyre garage

Tracking has been set correctly but it has torque steer but it gets a lot better when tracking is out 1.5 degrees.

Most likely the diff in the gear box my old xsi did the samething once the gearbox was replaced it was fine.

I was hoping that someone would have experienced something like this. I couldn't think of anything but the box but didn't want to spend the money if it was going to be way off the mark and something a lot simpler

Mine eventually went completely and I only had drive to the off side wheel. From the sound off it you have all ready replaced/checked every thing else so it only leave the box as a suspect.

OK Torque may not be the correct term to use but the symptoms are the same pulling one way under acceleration but probably due to a mechanical problem more than power produced by the engine.
Now that we are agreed that it's not torque I don't suppose you have any useful advice as to what is causing it pull to the right under acceleration and back to the left when throttle comes off

Dummy back in the pram, we're only having a bit of craic.
As Andy said in the 2nd reply, your tracking is most likely out. Get that checked before anything else as its the more probable cause and is the cheapest place to start. Get your tyres checked too, if you've left it along enough you may have tyres with irregular wear.

He's already said the tracking has been checked and if your putting negative camber on and it gets better that's because it's pushing the driveshafts into the gearbox/diff more than normally.
Which would point towards a faulty diff or drive shaft.

I've had this problem for some months now and I must admit it is getting to me.
Tracking is spot on steering faces forward and eact amount of turns from straight to full lock either side.
Car runs staight with steering faciing forward and if you take hands off the wheel continues straight.
The odd think is that problem is less if you turn the toe out 1.5 degrees on alignement
Turn a right hand bend in neutral and the car is fine but in gear with small acceleration pulls to the right.
The only thing I can think of is that there is a problem with the diff putting more drive to the left side.

If the tracking has already been checked, take it elsewhere for a 2nd opinion. Make sure it's laser alignned this time too,
